Geology and Woodworking

For my college 6 weeks field course I had to purchase a  geologist's hand lens to be able to classify rocks.  I remember that it was an expensive purchase for my starving student budget, but I went ahead and purchased a good one.  It's a 10x lens.

For sentimental reasons, I haven't been able to part with it.  I was digging around in a drawer, rediscovered it and thought .. "Hey!  I could use this to see my chisel edges!"  It's actually really helped me improve my sharpening.  I can see if an edge is nicked or uneven and see the improved edge much more clearly.

Yeah, yeah .. I'm getting old and can't see anything.

  1. I need a good magnifying glass. Kari has a pair of glasses she bought last year. I like those..AND, as an added bonus, they really make ya look HOT!! lol

  2. I saw those and the picture she put up of herself wearing those in Steam Punk .. it was .. well shocking since I had a slightly different picture in my mind of what Kari is like but haven't had the privilege of meeting her yet. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Tc0t8CgyXiI/TL4mUrksgUI/AAAAAAAAFHQ/6MQMKUxXKWI/s1600/Steampunk.jpg
